Uniper is an international energy company headquartered in Germany with activities in more than 40 countries. Uniper’s core businesses are power generation in Europe, global energy and commodity trading, and a broad gas portfolio.
Uniper procures gas – including LNG – and other energy sources such as green ammonia and green hydrogen on global markets and is one of the largest LNG traders in Northwestern Europe, thus actively contributing to Security of Supply in Europe. In 2022, Uniper traded around 200 LNG cargoes. The company has booked capacity at various terminals in Europe and operates 6 LNG ships under charter. Uniper has exponentially increased the annual volume of this LNG trade since its inception. In late 2022, Uniper commissioned Germany’s first floating regasification terminal with a capacity of up to 7.5 bcm/yr, or 8 percent of Germany’s annual consumption.
