Ali Lashgari is a Senior Data Scientist for Regulations and Emissions at Project Canary (PC). His main responsibility is to present complex models developed by the PC’s Technology and Data Science teams to external stakeholders such as regulators, customers, and the public. Prior to joining PC, Ali worked in different consulting roles for five years. His experience is at the intersection of energy & mineral production and air quality management. Ali has served a wide variety of industries, including oil & gas, mining, power, refining, steelmaking, and manufacturing. His air quality expertise includes permitting, monitoring, emission quantification, leak detection, optical gas imaging, source apportionment, and dispersion modeling. He has served as a subject matter expert for US and international companies on different subjects, including GHG management, next-generation emissions management (NGEM), emissions quantification, particulate matter management, noise management, and ESG. Ali earned his Ph.D. degree in Energy and Mineral Engineering from Penn State. He has a master’s degree in Data Analytics, a second master’s degree in Mining Economics and Feasibility Studies, as well as a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. He has served as the Society of Mining Engineering’s Health and Safety Division Chair. Ali has published and presented his research findings in more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and international conference papers.
