Before being appointed General Delegate of GIIGNL, Laurent David had been Head of the Strategy Department within the integrated Gas, Renewables and Power Segment -GRP- of TotalEnergies since 2020. He was responsible for the strategy & economic studies team of the Global LNG business unit of ENGIE, before the latter was sold to TotalEnergies in 2018. Previously, he had been working on gas and power scenarios for the corporate Strategy of ENGIE.

His interest in gas markets has started with its PhD dedicated to the United Kingdom and the United States experiences of gas deregulation in 2000.
